Testimonials

Katie is a passionate teacher who is friendly and supportive. Lessons that I have observed have contained valuable learning opportunities, technical and musical instructions, openness for discussions and question and answer times, and always conducted in good humour and with understanding of the pupil's individual circumstances. Punctuality is good and communications timely and appropriate.

She has taught students from beginner level and up to Grade 8 and beyond.

Katie is a dedicated and committed music teacher.

She has a really positive rapport with her students, adapting her teaching style to accommodate and support students with varying needs, including special educational needs. She communicates effectively with parents, and works positively with colleagues. She is friendly, caring and conscientious, and well liked by her students.

Katie has taught me saxophone for many years now, taking me from complete novice with both the instrument and music theory, to achieving Grade 6 and now playing Grade 7 pieces.

Katie is genuine, kind, and friendly and has given me the confidence to believe I can play. She is calm and patient during lessons and I never feel pressured when it may not be going well, as Katie is always positive and optimistic.

The lessons are tailored to pieces I enjoy, and adapted to my capabilities whenever necessary. If I struggle, Katie finds a solution, and she is always encouraging and fair in her assesment of the lessons and progress from week to week.

Katie is a brilliant musician and if she feels it would help she will pick up her instrument, and record a section of music as a reference point for me whilst practising, or we play along together.

I am lucky to have Katie as a music teacher and I would highly recommend Katie whether it be for music exams, or the pure enjoyment of learning an instrument.

Throughout my many years of lessons with Katie she has always been fantastic teacher and a great inspiration and role model who genuinely cares about her students. She took me from grade 2-8 and her lessons always covered all the technical aspects of the skills required in a fun and engaging way!

My son has been having sax lessons with Katie for the last 6 years. My son enjoys his lessons & is now practicing for his grade 8. Katie has a way of making him practice but understands that it is not always possible to practice as much as they should, like around school exams. She has been flexible with her timing when something has come up. I believe that if Katie had not been my son’s teacher, he would have quit the sax but Katie has an ability to keep him interested & wanting to continue with his lessons. I have always told him it’s his choice to play the sax & not once in 6 years has he ever said he doesn’t want to play & this is down to the teacher/ student relationship that Katie has built with my son. Thank you.
